ELIXIR Estonia participated in ELIXIR All Hands meeting in Uppsala
ELIXIR All Hands Meeting at Uppsala University was a resounding success! The grand main lecture hall provided a fantastic venue. It was wonderful to see colleagues from different nodes gather, share insights, and engage in enriching networking opportunities.
Main topics discussed during 3 days were:
- Interoperability and Data Integration: Focus on enhancing data sharing and compatibility across various platforms and disciplines within ELIXIR. Workshops addressed challenges and discussed real-world use cases to shape ELIXIR’s Interoperability Platform.
- Training and Inclusiveness: Emphasized developing diverse and inclusive teams within ELIXIR through “Ally Skills” and enhancing the inclusiveness of training. Various sessions explored collaborative approaches to strengthen community engagement and leadership diversity.
- Technological Advancements and Applications: Discussions around emerging technologies like generative AI, single-cell data management, and the use of machine learning/AI in life sciences.
- Strategic Partnerships and Community Building: Sessions included collaborative solutions and joint workshops aimed at enhancing industrial engagement and global research collaborations.
- FAIR Principles and Data Management: Dedicated workshops addressed the application of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles in software management and data handling.
- Health and Drug Development: Keynote talk on the Human Protein Atlas spotlight the implications of biological research on health, drug development, and precision medicine.
- Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI): The Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) project is enabling access to genomic and related phenotypic and clinical data across Europe. It is doing this by establishing a federated, sustainable and secure infrastructure to access the data. Estonia is a participant.
